Nicole Richie and Simone Joy Jones reflected on their time working together on the new film Don’t Tell Mom The Babysitter’s Dead in their new uInterview.

The film is based on a 1991 comedy that follows five siblings who are left alone all summer after their mom leaves town and their evil babysitter dies unexpectedly.

The duo recounted their experience working together in scenes where Jones’ character plays Richie’s character’s assistant.

“It’s amazing honestly,” Jones told uInterview founder Erik Meers. “And the thing I remember most is the type of person she is off-screen. She is just so kind and so real and so genuine. And so effortless! She invited me to have lunch on our first day. You know, when you’re with new people, you don’t know how it’s going to go. Then she was like, ‘What are we going to have for lunch?’ [pretends to scream] And then we spent every day together having lunch. So aside from her being a brilliant actor and all her funny gorgeous choices, she’s just an incredible person.”

Ritchie said, “I was very surprised to learn that [Jones] didn’t do comedy all the time because she is such a natural comedic actress. We had so much fun, just us going into scenes together. We’re just hanging and vibing, and then we’d go in and shoot our scene and vibe and then be done and still vibe! I got to really spend time watching her and it was so incredibly watching her weave together everything.”

Meers commented that the movie’s director, Wade Allain Marcus, saw the film as a “black John Hughes” movie. After Ritchie referenced Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Jones responded, “Those eighties films, they’re larger than life in a way, so with him setting the tone with that, we had permission to play and pump so much into these characters, and yet they still feel real and grounded.”

Don’t Tell Mom The Babysitter’s Dead Will hit theaters on April 12.
