‘The Voice’ Pays Touching Tribute To Season 1 Contestant Beverly McClellan Who Died Last Month

On Tuesday night, The Voice gave a touching tribute to Season one fan-favorite contestant, Beverly McClellan, who died at 49-years-old on October 30 from endometrial cancer.

“We want to remember a special person in the Voice family,” host Carson Daly announced during the live show. “Finalist Beverly McClellan blew us away with her powerful voice on our first season of the show. Unfortunately, she lost her battle with cancer — a brave battle at that — just two weeks ago. We want to take a second to remember her infectious spirit and her undeniable talent. Beverly, we love you so much.”

Back In 2011, McClellan stunned the judges with her vocal performance of “Piece of My Heart,” which made Adam Levine and Christina Aguilera turn their chairs. From there, McClellan joined Aguilera’s team and made it all the way to final four in the first-ever Voice finale. During the contestant/coach duet on finale week, McClellan gave a powerful performance of Aguilera’s empowerment anthem “Beautiful,” which seven years later still remains one of the most powerful performances in Voice history.

When speaking back on that experience with Yahoo, McClellan said, “Sitting there with [Christina] singing the song — with Linda Perry, the original writer of the song — that’s what the dreams are about right there.”

Two weeks ago, McClellan’s publicist broke the devastating news of McClellan’s passing. She had been battling with cancer for months after being diagnosed with Stage 4 endometrial cancer that had spread to her colon, bladder, and intestines. Over the years, McClellan independently released six albums, with the last being, Fear Nothing, which she released after being on the Voice.
