Ryan Coogler, the 32-year-old behind the 9th highest grossing movie of all time, Black Panther, is back. Since the Marvel Studios-backed film released to record-setting numbers, the debate about if Coogler would return for a sequel has been strong.

The director declined to lead Creed II after launching the successful Rocky franchise spin-off in 2015. Multiple sources are now reporting that Marvel Studios has reach a deal with Coogler to write and direct a sequel to Black Panther, which will likely be filmed late next year or in 2020.

Coogler joins Jon Favreau, James Gunn, Jon Wattsand Joss Whedon as the fifth director in Marvel history to lead a sequel movie. One person who won’t return back is Michael B. Jordan, who played Erik Killmonger. Jordan has also previously worked with Coogler on Creed.
