Lori Loughlin‘s daughter, Olivia Jade Giannulli, was aboard a yacht with billionaire Rick Caruso, the chairman of USC’s Board of Trustees, while her parents were indicted Tuesday.

Giannulli, 19, was on spring break in the Bahamas with Caruso’s daughter Gianna before returning to Los Angeles when news of the indictment broke out. Both women are freshmen at USC.

“My daughter and a group of students left for spring break prior to the government’s announcement yesterday. Once we became aware of the investigation, the young woman decided it would be in her best interest to return home,” said Caruso in a statement.

Loughlin and her husband Mossimo are accused of paying $500,000 in a scheme to get their two daughters admitted to USC. If the allegations against them are true, it could result in Giannulli being expelled from USC.

Giannulli’s apparent “closeness” to trustee member Caruso isn’t going to help much in the matter. The Board of Trustees aren’t going to decide on the fate of Giannulli and other students involved in the case, that decision is the responsibility of the university’s president.

A statement released by Caruso after the indictment read, “The charges filed today against employees of USC are disturbing and the alleged activity is absolutely wrong. I am saddened that these people would abuse their positions of trust and, as the government has alleged, victimize USC in the process. There is no option other than zero tolerance for this type of behavior. As a result, USC has fired the alleged wrongdoers.”
