Kyle Rittenhouse announced in an interview with Tucker Carlson that he is planning on suing LeBron James along with other celebrities and politicians who made public statements he considered defamatory during his trial for the killing of two protesters in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
Rittenhouse, now 19, was eventually acquitted of murder and endangering public safety last year. James repeatedly mocked Rittenhouse during his trial, once tweeting “that boy ate some lemon heads,” after a video was released of the teenager seemingly in tears on the witness stand.
In an interview for conservative education group Turning Point USA program called Frontlines, Rittenhouse said, “Anybody who defamed me or lied about me, we’re just gonna send them a letter and deal with them in a courtroom.”
While it hasn’t been officially confirmed what Rittenhouse will be suing for, his statements make it rather likely he’ll be pursuing defamation lawsuits for these cases. Other people Rittenhouse said he’ll be suing include Whoopi Goldberg and The Young Turks’ Cenk Uygur.
Goldberg notably said after Rittenhouse was acquitted, “Even all the excuses in the world does not change the fact that three people got shot. Two people were murdered. To me it’s murder. I’m sorry.”
