Anna Nicole Smith’s 17-year-old daughter, Dannielynn Birkhead, attended the Kentucky Derby with her father, Larry Birkhead.
On Friday, the Birkheads attended the Barnstable-Brown Gala before the big Kentucky Derby race on Saturday. In a carousel of photos on the father-daughter pair’s joint Instagram, Dannielynn and Larry smiled in their photographs.
“Looking forward to a fun Derby weekend with the newly graduated high school student!” Larry captioned the post.
Larry wore a gray suit and black tie with matching black shoes. Dannielynn sported an all-black vintage Gianfranco Ferre ensemble, previously owned by singer Janet Jackson.
Dannielynn and Larry have made it a tradition to attend the annual Kentucky Derby since Dannielynn was three years old. In 2023, Dannielynn wore a long sunflower-print dress while her father wore a light suit with yellow accents to match.
The Instagram post was received positively. Fans shared their warm feelings about the father-daughter duo, including one user who commented, “Ahh, the derby where you met her mama!!! I love that you’ve made it a tradition. She’s beautiful! You both look great. Congrats, Danni!”
Dannielynn and Larry have continuously supported each other on social media with heartwarming posts. For his daughter’s 17th birthday in September, Larry left a sweet message for the teen.
“Happy 17th Birthday, Dannielynn! I am so proud of you in each and every way. Wishing you the best day ever! You are funny, crazy smart, pretty and just about everything I could ever imagine. Your Mom would be so proud of you, I sure am.”
In 2017, Larry opened up about raising Dannielynn, comparing her to her late mother.
“She’s fearless like her mom,” he said. “I could stand right next to my daughter, and we could look like twins, and the first thing they’ll say is ‘spitting image of the mother.'”
Smith, a former Playboy model, died of an accidental drug overdose in 2007. Dannielynn was set to inherit $475 million from their late husband’s estate, oil heir J. Howard Marshall, but the U.S. Supreme Court ruled against her on a technicality.
