Sarah Niles is a British actress. She is best known for her roles in The Crucible (2014), Ted Lasso (2021) and Riches (2022).

SARAH NILES BIOGRAPHY: AGE, EARLY LIFE, FAMILY, EDUCATION

Sarah Niles was born on June 17, 1987 (Sarah Niles’ age: 36), in London, England. In the late 50s, her parents, an electrician, and a care nurse, moved from Barbados to Britain. Niles is the youngest of three children. She studied at the Manchester School of Theatre, a branch of the Manchester Metropolitan University.

Niles started her career on the stage in the National Theatre, The Old Vic, The Bush Theatre and The Royal Court. In 2014 she played as Tituba in The Crucible to a sold-out crowd at The Old Vic, which was later streamed to movie theaters. Other movies Niles had a role in include Happy-Go-Lucky (2008), Rocks (2019) and This is Christmas (2022). Niles also spent some time on the television screen in shows such as Don’t Take My Baby (2015), I May Destroy You (2020), Ted Lasso (2021) and Riches (2022).

SARAH NILES BIOGRAPHY: RICHES

The show Riches follows the family of Stephen Richards (Hugh Quarshie) after he has a heart attack, leaving his cosmetics empire up in the air for the family to squabble about. Niles plays Claudia Richards, Stephen Richards’ daughter.

In an exclusive interview with uInterview, Niles revealed what she likes most about playing her character, Claudia Richards. “I love Claudia because she’s feisty and she’s strong, she’s a little bit of a mess as well which I love about her,” Niles laughed. “She’s just trying to survive, she didn’t see it coming because all of a sudden, Stephen is dead. Then there’s the whole will in the way she had it all planned out where the money was going to go. The game keeps changing all the time. She’s just trying to survive and she’s doing a pretty good job of it as someone who doesn’t have the skills to run a company, really. That’s what I love about her.”

Niles also revealed what her favorite scene to shoot was. “There’s so many. When they were discussing the will on the table. I loved that. That was good fun… all of us meeting for the first time around the table. You see all of the characters for the first time,” Niles said.

When talking about what she hopes the audience knows about her character, Niles said, “I kinda hope that people see that she is vulnerable and she’s trying to make the best with what she knows how and how she knows to do it. I think those things are really interesting because then she becomes a fuller character… I like the way she stumbles sometimes in her ways of doing things. She makes some mistakes and she’s like,” Niles shrugged, “’Keep going, keep going, just keep going. Moving forward.’ I love that about her.”

Niles finished her exclusive interview with uInterview founder Erik Meers by talking about the show representing a powerful black family.

“You guys are lucky you have it all the time in the U.S. In the U.K., it’s rare,” Niles said. “That was a lot of feeling of we wanted to do it well. There was a bit of a pressure. It was challenging for many reasons. Trying to make a project with budgets. You’re not even talking about middle-class families, you’re talking about millionaire-rich families, and even as simple as trying to source things that are not going to cost too much to eat away at the budget … I can’t imagine what locations were like for those who had to go and find and pay for that. I definitely felt like this was the first, in my career, where you think so much about make-up, hair and lighting, there’s so much involved in it. On top of it, we were trying to be as authentic as we can with these characters and trying not to get engaged with thinking ‘What if people don’t like the character’ or ‘What if I didn’t do that right?'”
