Alexa Nikolas opened up about her “traumatizing” time on Nickelodeon to former Disney Channel star Christy Carlson Romano.

Nikolas, 30, starred on Nickelodeon’s hit show Zoey 101, which ended up running without Nikolas for four seasons, from 2005 to 2006.

Jamie Lynn Spears, the younger sister of Britney Spears, co-starred the show.

Nikolas and Jamie Lynn accused one another of bullying during filming.

Instead of helping resolve the issue, Nickelodeon took her to meet with the Spears sisters, and Britney ended up yelling at her while Jamie Lynn hid in the back of the room.

“It wasn’t OK,” Nikolas told Romano. “I was a 12, 13-year-old.”

Nikolas said knowing Britney’s traumatizing conservatorship and mental struggle, she doesn’t blame her.

“In retrospect, knowing the dynamic that was in place for her, I think… oh my God, poor Britney. She is in a horrible situation there,” she continued. “And she was like eight months pregnant so she was hormonal, too.”

“Britney is an amazing person. She has apologized to me personally,” said Nikolas. “Actually, Britney Spears apologized, but Nickelodeon hasn’t. Isn’t that funny? Yeah, Britney Spears apologized, and not Nickelodeon.”

Reflecting on the fact that child actors don’t have control over one’s body and are vulnerable to other abuses, Nikolas started an organization called Eat Predators for survivors.

They protest in places such as outside Nickelodeon and have gained notice.
