Zendaya went above and beyond for her Cinderella-inspired look for the 2019 Met Gala!

The former Disney star arrived at the star-studded event, wearing a Tommy Hilfiger gown which featured a powder blue tulle overlay, a corseted bodice, and exaggerated sleeves. Her hair was worn in a similar style to the beloved Disney original princess and was topped off with a blue headband and black choker.

In addition to the K.C. Undercover star’s gown, she also gave the crowd a red carpet magic show as she walked with her stylist Law Roach, who dressed as the Fairy Godmother. As Roach waved a magic ‘wand,’ which had smoke streaming out of it, Zendaya’s gown began to glow and slowly light up from the bottom. And within several seconds later her gown was fully illuminated from top to bottom.

As she left the red carpet, the actress pulled a classic Cinderella move and left behind a single glass slipper.

According to Vogue, Zendaya’s Cinderella-inspired look was originally inspired by her evolving career.

“[It’s] the total opposite of every character I think she’s ever played and a huge stretch from K.C. Undercover,” Roach explained. “It’s almost like this is the last hoorah and the last time people will identify her as a Disney princess—which isn’t a bad thing.”

Zendaya took to Instagram to show a closer look at her gown from underneath and thanked everyone who took part in creating it.

“Thank you to all the very very smart people who somehow built and made this dress work,” she captioned the post alongside multiple photos and videos of her gown’s design process.
