Jason Momoa, best known for playing Khal Drogo on HBO’s Game of Thrones, appears as superhero Aquaman in a newly released photo from Batman v Superman director Zack Snyder.

Jason Momoa Is Aquaman

Snyder released the poster still of Momoa via Twitter Thursday night. “There is only one true King,” Snyder captioned the first-look picture of Momoa as Aquaman, “unitetheseven.”

Momoa will make his debut as the trident-wielding superhero who has the ability to talk to fish in the forthcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. He’s slated to reprise the role in The Justice League Part 1, as well as in his own movie in the DC Comics franchise.

For months, Momoa had denied that he would be assuming the part of Aquaman while rumors swirled about his casting. It wasn’t officially confirmed until this past August. While his role in Batman v Superman will be relatively small, it will be larger in the Snyder-directed Justice League movie.

The stand-alone Aquaman franchise has Will Beall and Kurt Johnstad working on a script, reported The Hollywood Reporter. The movie is one of the nine untitled DC movies expected to hit theaters between 2016 and 2020.

Batman Vs. Superman hits theaters March 25, 2015. The Justice League movie will be released sometime in 2017.
