Jason Momoa will reportedly play DC Comic’s Aquaman, and will not only appear in the Batman Vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice flick and the planned Justice League feature, but also launch his own franchise within the comic book movie empire.

Jason Momoa To Play 'Aquaman'

Momoa’s casting as Aquaman was all but confirmed back in June by HitFix. According to the website, though Momoa had been denying he would be assuming the superhero role for months, Batman Vs. Superman director Zach Snyder had finished conceptualizing Momoa’s Aquaman.

It’s believed that Momoa will have only a small role as Aquaman in Batman Vs. Superman, but that he would take on a greater part in the forthcoming Justice League film, which will also have Snyder at the helm. Justice League would bring together Aquaman, Batman (Ben Affleck), Superman (Henry Cavill), Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) and potentially Flash, Green Arrow and more.

In addition to the ensemble features, it is now being reported that Momoa will get his own Aquaman movie. Will Beall and Kurt Johnstad are getting to work penning scripts for an Aquaman installment, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The movie is one of the nine untitled DC movies expected to hit theaters between 2016 and 2020.

Batman Vs. Superman hits theaters March 25, 2015. The Justice League movie will be released sometime in 2017.
