All My Children, the long-running soap opera, may soon be history. Rumors have been spreading in the past few days, and ABC has done little to dispel them. ABC is the only network that hasn’t canceled any of their soaps in recent years. CBS recently canned both Guiding Light and As The World Turns, while NBC dismissed Passions. As of now, ABC is still holding on strong to its soaps, airing General Hospital, One Life To Live and All My Children.

Children star Susan Lucci (pictured) has been with the show for its entire 41-year run. Lucci even won a Daytime Emmy for her role as Erica Kane in 1998. Lucci is arguably the most famous current soap opera actress, and she is the only original cast member still on the show. With ratings at an all time low, Lucci and Children may not have much more time on ABC. In 2009 Children moved their shooting location from New York to L.A. to cut costs. That still may not be enough to save Erica Kane.
