Jennifer Coolidge’s character, Tanya McQuoid, on White Lotus, may get her own prequel.

Mike White, the creator of White Lotus, is open to the idea of making a series focused on McQuoid’s backstory. He would want Coolidge to play the character as 20 years younger. He also believes that Coolidge would be open to the idea.

White told Deadline at the Vivid Sydney Festival that he “absolutely think[s] that’s possible.”

White is currently working on season three of the show which will take place in Thailand. Coolidge will not be in this season of the show due to her character’s death at the end of season two after falling off a yacht. She was attempting to escape her friends who were trying to kill her for her money. Fans remember this episode as it is when she said her famous line, “Please, these gays are trying to murder me!” which went viral on TikTok.

Coolidge won an Emmy for her performance this season.

Coolidge tried to convince White not to kill off Tanya from the show, but she did understand why White did it. She clarified the message of Tanya’s death, “This was an episode about women and all that they have to put up with and all their survival techniques.”

Natasha Rothwell, who played Belinda Lindsey in season one as a spa manager, will return to season three even though she was not in season two. It is not known who else will star in this season.
