Wendy Williams Taking Break From her Show To Be Treated For Graves’ Disease
Wendy Williams has announced that she will be taking a few weeks off to be treated for Graves’ Disease.
William’s representative Alexandra Sinclair told USA TODAY, “Wendy has been openly dealing with her Graves’ Disease for many years, in addition to hyperthyroidism. Yesterday, Wendy’s doctor prescribed a necessary three weeks of rest to get her levels and medication in sync.”
Graves’ Disease is an autoimmune disorder that leads to generalized over activity of the entire thyroid gland, according to thyroid.org
In her own style, Williams announced the hiatus to her audience. “My doctor has prescribed, are you ready? As of today, three weeks of vacation. What? Who are you? I was pissed.”

She explained that the disease squeezes the muscles behind her eye balls and that’s why her eyes seem to bulge out of their sockets. She also said that she feels “like there are birds swimming around my head, like I’m constantly high – but I’m not high.”
Even while she was explaining her disease, Williams was in high spirits. “I’ll be back in two weeks,” she joked. “I’m not an heiress. Who is going to pay my bills? Are you serious? I’m just saying, I come from the working class.”
There won’t be someone filling in on the Wendy Williams Show while she’s on her leave – the show will be airing rerun episodes.
