VIDEO EXCLUSIVE: Ed Begley Jr., Diedrich Bader & Megyn Price Share Their Favorite Moments Working On ‘Holiday Touchdown’
In a sit-down conversation with uInterview, actors Ed Begley Jr., Diedrich Bader and Megyn Price shared how they came together for the new Hallmark movie Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story.
Holiday Touchdown follows Alana, a young woman obsessed with the Kansas City Chiefs and determined to win the fan of the year Award to gift her family as a Christmas present. As Alana vies for the title through the holiday season, she unexpectedly falls in love with a handsome man in the Chiefs front office.
Asked for their favorite moments while filming, Begley told uInterview founder Erik Meers, “I love the scene outside where we were all getting drunk. We all got loaded together.”
Bader jumped in, “Everybody was so committing to doing it that it genuinely felt like a party.”
The film focuses on the Chief fandom, which offered a learning experience of the veteran actors. “I think you can be a fan of anything,” Price said. “I can be a rabid fan of British mystery shows and a rabid fan of a particular sandwich that I make, but the Chiefs fandom is unlike anything. It is epic. And the real Chiefs fans would show up. They were showing up at the stadium, we were coming to, you know, do our work, but the stadium was half full with all the people that were the fans.”
Begley commented, “I grew up in L.A. but I had never been to a Rams game. I was not very knowledgable about football – but now I’m definitely a Chiefs fan. I’m so blown away by their skill, and their humor and their family attitude. It’s just wonderful.”
Price said, “And it’s such a positive thing – it’s such a positive, inclusive thing, which I think is really necessary.” She added, “It’s not necessarily really about football…it’s really about the fans. And magic.”
Bader commented, “Fans are part of a family; they’re an extended family. And this movie is about fandom; it’s not just about the Chiefs.”
As the three reflected on the message behind the movie, Bader explained, “Family is what you make of it. It’s about inclusivity and bringing people into your circle and about warm generous spirit and support. And I think it’s very beautiful in that way.”
Holiday Touchdown will premiere on Nov. 30 on Hallmark Channel at 8 p.m. ET.
