In a sit-down conversation with uInterview, actor Shaz Khan shared how he had to learn MMA for his new movie The Martial Artist, a drama that follows the MMA fighter ‘Ibby’, who must travel to Pakistan when his career is sent spiraling off track. Khan told uInterview founder Erik Meers, “I trained for four years for this film. I’ve been physical all my life, and I boxed a little in college, but this is another level of commitment…I’m like, ‘If I’m going to play this character, I’m not going to be believable at all if I phone it in.’ So I had to go all in, I had to learn boxing again, tae kwon do, wrestling, jujitsu, Muay Thai, kickboxing.” The Martial Artist is now in theaters.
