Trump Tells Rally Crowd That Controversial GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene Is ‘Very Smart’ & ‘Very Respected In Congress’

Former President Donald Trump told a cheering crowd at one of his rallies that controversial Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Georgia) is “very smart” and “very respected in Congress,” raising eyebrows on both sides of the political spectrum.

At his rally in Rock Hill, South Carolina, Trump took the stage to deliver his remarks on the eve of the South Carolina Republican primary, where he secured a significant victory against Gov. Nikki Haley (R-South Carolina), the state’s former two-term governor.

Despite calls for her withdrawal from the race, Haley has remained steadfast in her campaign.

Greene, on the other hand, has been vocal about her desire to “eradicate” Haley from the Republican Party due to her decision to continue running after the New Hampshire primary held last month.

After he acknowledged his endorsement by Rep. Nancy Mace (R-South Carolina), who had previously opposed him, Trump directed his attention to Greene.

Trump said, “I mean, honestly, she’s a good person. She’s been with me for so long. She’s been with me in good times and bad times. When times are bad, she’ll call me up and say, ‘Don’t worry about it, Sir. You’re doing great.’ And if times are good, she’ll call me up twice. But she’s a fantastic person. She’s a very smart person and very respected in Congress.”

He added, “A lot of people don’t know how respected she is.”

Greene’s presence in the political arena has long been marked by controversy. In 2021, the House (then under Democratic control) voted to remove Greene from her committee assignments.

This action was taken after it was revealed that prior to her congressional tenure, she had liked a Facebook post that suggested former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-California) should be subjected to violence. Additionally, it came to light that Greene had promoted conspiracy theories about mass shootings, the Holocast and the September 11 attacks.

In another incident, Greene shared a post that suggested that “Jewish space lasers” were responsible for the California wild fires.

These statements have contributed to mounting concerns about her fitness to serve in Congress.
