Donald Trump has posted several messages to his social media platform, Truth Social, attacking Judge Arthur Engoron and New York Attorney General Letitia James over their roles in the civil fraud case against the former president.
Last week, Trump took the stand in the trial, in which James has alleged that Trump, his family and his business associates have been fraudulently inflating his net worth over the years. His testimony followed that of his two sons and preceded his daughter’s.
Now that the prosecution has rested and Trump’s team is preparing their defense, Trump has taken to Truth Social to “re-Truth” supporters who have been criticizing the trial and voice his own opinions on the charges against him.
“I am the victim of a corrupt legal system that is being used by those surrounding Crooked Joe Biden, with his full knowledge & consent, to hurt, demean and damage his Political Opponent, ME,” Trump wrote. “A terrible precedent is being set, but so far, despite the vulgarity & viciousness of it all, it has driven my poll numbers to record numbers.”
“They see what is going on with a Corrupt & Racist New York State A.G., and a Trump-Hating Puppet Judge willing to do her dirty work, even as it takes him, and his reputation, to new levels of low,” the former president continued.
Trump even shared a post from one ally, suggesting that James and Engoron should be placed under “citizen arrest.”
“My fantasy,” the user wrote, “I would like to see Letitia James and Judge Engoron placed under citizen arrest for blatant election interference and harassment.”
Trump is under a gag order that prevents him or his attorneys from attacking the judge’s staff. Promoting these ideas may provoke further action against the former president.
