Trump Ally Rep. Elise Stefanik Refuses To Commit To Accepting The 2024 Election Results

House Republican leader Elise Stefanik (R-New York) said she won’t commit to accepting the 2024 election results.

“Would you vote to certify, and will you vote to certify, the results of the 2024 election, no matter what they show?” Kristen Welker, the host of Meet the Press, asked.

“Well, I voted not to certify the state of Pennsylvania, because as we saw in Pennsylvania and other states across the country, that there was unconstitutional acts circumventing the State legislature and unilaterally changing election law,” Stefanik responded.

“What about 2024, Congresswoman?” Welker asked.

“We will see if this is a legal and valid election,” Stefanik replied. “What we’re seeing so far is that Democrats are so desperate, they’re trying to remove President [Donald] Trump from the ballot. That is a suppression of the American people, and the Supreme Court will that case up in February. That should be a nine-to-zero to allow President Trump to appear on the ballot because that’s the American people’s decision to make this November.”

“And the matters, of course, halted pending that appeal, as you said,” Welker pointed out. “Just to be very clear, I don’t hear you committed to certifying the election results. Will you only commit to certifying the results if former President Trump wins?”

“No, it means if they are constitutional,” Stefanik replied. “What we saw in 2020 was unconstitutional circumventing of the Constitution not going through state legislatures when it comes to changing election law.”

“And we’re seeing this in my home state of New York, Kristen,” Stefanik stated. “We’re seeing Democrats trying to steal the election and illegally gerrymander congressional districts that we fairly won and are fair lines. So, I see this at a very local level, as well as the unconstitutional overreach we saw at the national level in 2020.”

Stefanik defended the remarks Trump recently made about rioters who stormed the Capitol on January 6, 2021, calling them “hostages.”

On January 6, Trump asked President Joe Biden to release the rioters from federal prison during an Iowa rally.

“I call them hostages,” Trump said. “Some people call them prisoners. I call them hostages. Release the J6 hostages, Joe. Release them, Joe. You can do it real easy, Joe.”

“I have concerns about the treatment of January 6 hostages,” Stefanik said on Meet the Press.

Stefanik was asked if she stood by the comments she made on the House floor, in which she called January 6, 2021, a horrible day for the U.S.

“I condemned the violence just like I condemn the violence of the BLM riots, but I also importantly stood for election integrity and security of our elections,” she declared.

Trump recently quoted Russian President Vladimir Putin, saying that American democracy is “rotten.”
