Top Hooker is the next reality competition coming to the air, but it’s not what it sounds like. Despite whatever assumptions you jump to with the title, it's actually a reality fishing show that will air on Animal Planet. The network certainly had fun with it’s provocative title, though, and gave reason for pause in the initial press release.

“Animal Planet Re-enters the Competition Reality Show Arena with High-Energy Series Exploring the World's Oldest Profession… Fishing!”

In Top Hooker, ten of the best anglers in the world will compete in competitions such as catching fish using just their mouths and fishing on ziplines in order to win a $30,000 prize and a new pickup truck. The contestants will be a diverse bunch, “from a harpoon wielding Southern belle to a South African bodybuilder,” and each boasst a catchy nickname, such as “Attila the Hun-garian,” “The Bass Man” and “Al-lure-ing Lawyer.”

So be on the lookout, even if it's not the competition you may have intitially expected. Comedian Reno Collier will host Top Hooker, which premieres on Animal Planet on Sunday, June 2, at 10 p.m. ET.

    I have to admit that the title of this show caught my attention and I will definitely tune in to see who the top fisherman in this reality show competition is. I work at DISH and several of my coworkers said Animal Planet has a good sense of humor with this name and I agree. I started working nights, but I am going to keep up with Top Hooker by recording it on my DISH Hopper. I like to record new shows and watch them at my own pace, and I can do that without needing to worry about space because my DVR holds up to 2,000 hours of entertainment.
