Tina Turner’s son, Ike Turner Jr., was arrested for possession of crack cocaine and tampering with evidence weeks before Tina’s death

Ike was pulled over on May 6 at 12:09 a.m. at a traffic light in his white Ford Fusion when officers noticed that one of the lights – either the headlight or taillight – was broken. When officers approached his car, Ike attempted to consume all of the narcotics that were in his possession.

The captain of the Alvin Police Department stated that Ike, “tried to eat the drugs before the officers could seize them from him.”

Police seized almost two grams of crack cocaine and .7 grams of methamphetamine from him.

Ike was with Jessica Salinas-Esquivel in the car when he was pulled over. Officers arrested her too, and she is now being charged with possession of a controlled substance.

Ike is being held at Brazoria County Jail and his bail is set at $70,000, which he has not yet paid.

When Tina Turner passed away on May 24, Ike was not there with her, as he was still behind bars. He has not spoken to her for almost 20 years and hasn’t spoken publicly about her death.

Ike is the biological child of Lorraine Taylor and Ike Turner Sr. His parents divorced, and Ike remarried to Tina in November 1962. After they met, Ike helped launch Tina’s career.

Tina adopted Ike’s two sons, Ike Jr. and Michael Turner, as her own children. Tina had one child from a previous relationship, Craig Raymond Turner, and she and Ike had another child together, Ronnie Turner

Their marriage was not a happy one. Ike famously abused Tina, and she eventually was able to escape from him 16 years later. She wrote many songs about the abusive relationship. Ike died in 2007 from an overdose after struggling with cocaine and crack addictions since the 1970s.
