Susan Boyle, the runner-up on the 2009 season of Britain’s Got Talent, was hospitalized in London after causing a scene at Heathrow Airport Monday.

Boyle apparently lost her temper with airline staffers in the British Airways lounge. The confrontation escalated to a point that London cops were called to the scene, reported TMZ. Concerned for Boyle’s mental health, the cops reportedly took Boyle against her will and subsequently sent her by ambulance to a local hospital for evaluation.

The officers received a call “to a lounge in Terminal 5, Heathrow to reports of a distressed woman. Officers attended and spoke with the woman,” reads a statement from London Police. “Concerned for her health and well-being, officers used their powers under the Mental Health Act and the woman was taken to a west London hospital by ambulance.”

According to Boyle’s rep, she was not put on a psychiatric hold, and was released soon after the hospitalization. The emotional outburst at the airport was due to Boyle’s Asperger’s Syndrome, says the rep.

Boyle’s spokesperson released a statement following the incident, which states, “Susan is absolutely fine and is on her way home.”

Boyle is best known for her show-stopping performance of “I Dreamed A Dream” while competing on Britain’s Got Talent. Following her appearance on the show, she released a No. 1 best-selling album.
