A New York judge has allowed Donald Trump to block two Manhattan district attorney’s subpoenas that were looking to search emails sent by his wife Melania Trump and similar documents.

Judge Juan Merchan decided that the subpoenas were too broad, ruling in Donald’s favor. The Manhattan D.A. Alvin Bragg was seeking to obtain the documents and emails to use as evidence against Donald in his felony case that alleges he falsified his business records.

If allowed, Donald would have had to hand over almost a year’s worth of emails that were sent between White House officials, employees from the Trump Organization, Donald’s travel itineraries, emails between Melania and Rhona Graff, Trump’s former executive assistant, and Graff’s emails to Keith Schiller, the former director of Oval Office operations.

Judge Merchan explained his decision stating, “This request would yield significantly more responsive records than necessary.”

Neither Bragg’s office nor the Trump Organization have publicly commented on the new ruling.

It was recently revealed in FEC filings that Trump’s super PAC had paid $145,000 for Melania’s stylist in the first month of the year.

Judge Merchan shared that if Bragg’s office subpoenaed the video of the deposition Donald gave to the attorneys in the E. Jean Carroll case before the trial began, he would not block it. Part of this tape was played during this trial and Merchan told the prosecutors to ask the federal judge if they would clarify if this video is being protected by a confidentiality order which began before the trial started.

The order by the judge was issued on July 7 and made public this week when it was filed by the D.A.’s office. In addition, a letter was also filed which contained information from the federal judge’s ruling on the issue with Donald’s deposition tape.

Merchan wrote that the prosecutors “have demonstrated that the request seeks items that are relevant and material.”

Merchan has also partially blocked and granted a subpoena made by Bragg that is seeking for severance, non-disclosure and confidentiality agreements that are related to 17 Trump Organization employees. Merchan commented that the prosecutors only documented why seven of the 17 people are relevant to the case.

Donald has previously criticized Merchan on social media. He stated that he believes Merchan “hates me” and has accused him of treating the case unfairly and “viciously.” His attorneys requested that Merchan be recused from Donald’s case due to $35 worth of donations the judge made to Democrats, but no decision has been made.
