SPOILERS: 'Iron Man 3' Footage, Villain Revealed
A vague image of the upcoming Iron Man 3, directed by Shane Black (Kiss Kiss Bang Bang) and starring Robert Downey Jr., Guy Pearce, Cobie Smulders, Gwyneth Paltrow, Paul Bettany, Ben Kingsley, Jon Favreau and Don Cheadle, is starting to take shape, as footage shown at Comic-Con revealed.
While Black took the reins from Favreau as director after the debacle of Iron Man 2, starring Downey Jr., Paltrow, Cheadle, Samuel L. Jackson, Scarlett Johansson, Sam Rockwell and Mickey Rourke as the villainous Ivan Vanko, both he and Favreau appeared at the panel discussion for Iron Man 3 at Comic-Con in San Diego, where they revealed a Tony Stark dance sequence, some new armor that he will don in the film, and plenty of action that involves, among other things, the extensive destruction of Stark's seaside mansion, reports E! Online.
Previous rumors that Kingsley will play the villainous The Mandarin and that Stephanie Szostak (The Devil Wears Prada, Dinner for Schmucks, We Bought a Zoo) will join the cast were also confirmed. Iron Man 3, Black said, is almost half finished with filming, and if they all manage not to "f–k up the rest, it's going to be great," Black assured.
Iron Man 3 will hit theaters on May 3, 2013, almost exactly one year after The Avengers, directed by Joss Whedon and starring Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner, Tom Hiddleston, Stellan Skarsgard, Smulders, Johansson, Jackson and Paltrow made box office history on its opening weekend.
