Spice Girls star and America’s Got Talent judge Melanie Brown, also known as Mel B, reportedly cannot pay back her taxes. She and her ex-husband Stephen Belafonte owe between $350,000 to $650,000 to the IRS for 2017, according to reports.

However, their inability to keep up with payments dates back to 2016. The AGT judge’s salary is now being garnished, meaning money for the missed payments will be deducted before she has access to the salary, according to court documents.

“I do not have the financial capabilities at this point to pay for these community property debts,” Mel B said in the documents obtained by The Blast.

She has been a judge on AGT since 2013 but expressed concern regarding her contract which may not be renewed, exacerbating her financial issues.

“I am currently a judge on the NBC television show, America’s Got Talent. I am currently in contract until the end of October 2018. I do not know if I will be asked back as a Judge on America’s Got Talent or if they will renew my contract,” she said. “My current state of financial affairs is of utmost concern due to the fact that Stephen and I have immense tax debts and have been unable to repay those debts.”

On the other hand, Mel seems to be doing well with her new boyfriend, Gary Madatyan.

Her ex-husband is now legally bound to keep at least 100 yards away from her after a court-issued temporary restraining order after a heated encounter between the two last month.

Their decade-long marriage officially came to an end last March when they first filed for divorce.
