Stephen Belafonte, the estranged husband of former Spice Girl Mel B, whose real name is Melanie Brown, is asking the singer for a “cash advance,” despite being in the midst of a divorce battle.

STEPHEN BELAFONTE ASKS MEL B FOR CASH AMID DIVORCE

The 41-year-old film producer asked Mel B to help cover his “living expenses” by way of a cash advance. Mel B, in turn, refused the request, and additionally accused her ex-husband of stealing £800,000 from her. “He has plenty of funds I assume from the amounts he has earned and continues to earn (and taken) to pay for his expenses,” said Mel B’s lawyers in court papers. “We do not believe your client is entitled to much, if any, of the community, but will owe Mel for the amounts he has taken from her without her knowledge or consent.”

This twist in the divorce proceedings comes after Mel B’s former nanny Lorraine Gilles filed a defamation suit against the singer. Mel B claimed that Gilles and Belafonte had been “pilfering money” from her, had an affair, and had terminated a pregnancy after conceiving his baby. Gilles, for her part, says that Mel B has inflicted emotional distress is her portrayal of the nanny as a “homewrecker, prostitute and extortionist” and claims Mel B had “seduced” her as a “naïve and curious 18-year-old foreign exchange student…with alcohol, fame, and casual sex.”

According to Gilles, she, Mel B, and Belafonte had a threesome early in her career with them, and she and Mel B continued having sex for the next seven years. “At no point did Gilles and Belafonte engage in any sexual acts without Brown’s knowledge or participation and at no point did Gilles and Belafonte represent to Brown that Gilles was pregnant with Belafonte’s child,” says Gilles in her legal documents.

Mel B is also coping with the loss of her father Martin Brown, who passed away seven weeks ago after a five-year battle with cancer.
