Shirley Mitchell, the onetime guest star of I Love Lucy, died Nov. 11 at the age of 94 due to heart failure.

I Love Lucy's Marion Strong

Mitchell appeared in three episodes of Lucille Ball’s infamous sitcom, I Love Lucy, during its third season as Marion Strong, Lucy’s friend with an offensive, cackling laugh. In the 50s and 60s, Mitchell appeared on multiple television shows, making guest appearances in Leave It To Beaver, Dragnet, The Adventures of Ozzie & Harriet and Lassie, to name a few. She worked constantly until her death.

Born in 1919 in Ohio, Mitchell first met Lucille Ball during her radio career and eventually moved to Los Angeles in the 1940s, according to The Hollywood Reporter. She was believed to have been the last living adult cast member of I Love Lucy at the time of her death.

Mitchell was married to former Capitol Records president and composer and lyricist Jay Livingston from 1992 until his death in 2001. She is survived by her two children Scott and Brooke.
