Carl Weathers died at the beginning of February at the age of 76.

Weathers’ death certificate states “atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease” as his official cause of death. He was at home in Venice, California, when he died at 12:18 a.m. According to the report, Weathers had been dealing with heart disease for years. His death was “natural.”

Weathers was best known for his role as Apollo Creed in the Rocky film franchise. He was also a recent star in the Star Wars television series The Mandalorian as Greef Karga. Weathers’ death was honored by many fans and former costars including Sylvester Stallone. Stallone shared a video to Instagram about Weathers.

His caption stated, “We lost a legend yesterday. My life was forever changed for the better the day I met Carl Weathers. Rest in power and keep punching.”

Weathers’ family will obtain the actor’s ashes following cremation. His family has said that Weathers passed away “peacefully in his sleep.”

In 2017, Weathers and Stallone made headlines when the pair reunited to present the final Golden Globe award at the 74th annual ceremony.
