Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene Yells At British Reporter: ‘Go Back To Your Country!’
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Georgia) lashed out at Sky News’ U.S. correspondent Martha Kelner after she questioned her about the recent Signal chat scandal.
On Sunday, Jeffrey Goldberg, the editor-in-chief for The Atlantic, reported in an article that, on March 13, he was added to a Signal group chat called “Houthi PC small group,” in which the Trump Administration accidentally sent him plans to attack Houthi militants in Yemen.
In his report, he said that he received a series of messages on Signal which seemed to come from Vice President JD Vance, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, National Security Adviser Michael Waltz and other notable officials in President Donald Trump’s administration.
He also noted that the military plan mentioned in the group chat “included precise information about weapons packages, targets and timing.”
Kelner asked Greene about this scandal during a press conference on Wednesday.
“Have you seen the new information revealed by The Atlantic magazine about the signal texts,” the reporter asked.
“We’re talking about NPR and PBS, not The Atlantic,” Greene told her.
“But do you believe that this classified information was shared with that group?” Kelner asked.
“No, the [Trump] administration has said it is not classified information,” Greene replied.
“I think this is a continuance of someone like you to try to push an issue that isn’t even relevant, and I think that we’re carrying on, thank you,” she added.
Kelner also asked if the “detail of timings and weapons” was not “classified.”
Later on in the conference, Greene asked the reporter what country she was from, to which she replied, “The U.K.”
“OK, we don’t give a c— about your opinion and your reporting,” the Georgia congresswoman stated. “Why don’t you go back to your country where you have a major migrant problem? You should care about your own borders.”
“Do you care about American lives being put at risk?” the reporter asked Greene.
“Let me tell you something, do you care about people from your country?” the congresswoman wondered. “What about all the women that migrants rape?”
“Do you care about American lives being put at risk, about service members fighting for your country, and your vice president, and your defense secretary?” Kelner asked.
An American reporter supported her, saying that he wanted to hear the answer to her previous question.
“I’m not answering her question because I don’t care about her network,” Greene declared.
“Do you have any concerns, whatsoever, about the complete disregard of operational security from the top level of [the Trump] administration?” the American reporter asked.
“You want to know about complete disregard about operational security,” the congresswoman stated. “You should talk about the Biden Administration and how they ripped our borders open to terrorists, cartels, child sex trafficking, human trafficking, and drug trafficking across our borders for four years.”
“The Trump Administration is doing a great job, and I stand by their statements – I stand by their statements,” she claimed.
“My comment to you is I’m thankful to President Trump that he is leading us out of wars, that he’s ending the war in Ukraine where American lives could have been killed if Joe Biden was still president today, whether he liked it or not. We’re talking about NPR and PBS today,” Greene said. “We’re talking about fake news that was funded with federal funding from American taxpayers. That’s what this is about today, not journalists from the U.K.”
“A journalist is being vilified for exposing – for exposing failings in the way that your government conducts itself,” Kelner continued. “Is that – is that not – that journalist doing a good job? Does defense secretary Hegseth need to resign over this, representative?”
“Absolutely not,” Greene stated. “He’s doing a great job.”
“He’s doing a great job, but he was putting American Service members’ lives -,” the reporter mentioned before being interrupted by Greene.
“Your country is going to put your military’s lives – fighting a war in Ukraine that’s not even a member of NATO,” the congresswoman interjected.
“Is this an exercise in deflection?” Kelner asked.
“This should be an exercise in you worrying about your own country,” Greene countered.
