PHOTO: Hugh Jackman Gets Jacked For Next 'Wolverine' Flick
It's no secret that Hugh Jackman, 43, is a versatile actor — transforming himself into the super-buff Wolverine of the X-Men franchise time and again between stints of singing and dancing on Broadway, and now that Jackman is filming James Mangold's (Walk the Line, 3:10 to Yuma) The Wolverine, he's back sporting his razor-sharp adamantium claws.

Jackman tweeted the first publicity still from The Wolverine yesterday with the exuberant message, "We are 1/2 thru filming. Really excited 4 this 1 & 4 you all 2 see it!"
As expected, Jackman also sports his trademark muscled bod in the new X-Men flick, which will follow Wolverine to Japan, where he will train with a samurai warrior. The image from the movie calls to mind a darker, more savage Logan / Wolverine that Jackman talked about when he was filming X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
"I had this image in my head of De Niro in that remake of Cape Fear," Jackman told Empire. "You were terrified of that character form the moment he took his shirt off and you saw all the tats; you know he was this coiled spring that would rip your head off, no matter how nonchalant he acted. That's who Wolverine is. I always thought of him as being lean, animalist, not necessarily pretty. He has all this berserkery, and he's terrifying when he loses all reason in blind rage."
The Wolverine, in all its rage, will hit theaters on July 26, 2013. If you want to see some of that famous Jackman versatility (plus singing) before that, check out the upcoming remake of Tom Hooper's (The King's Speech, John Adams) Les Miserables, also starring Anne Hathaway, Russell Crowe, Helena Bonham Carter, Sacha Baron Cohen and Amanda Seyfried, debuting on Christmas Day.
