Paris Hilton has shared donation links to a charity in Hawaii after being spotted on holiday with her husband and son in Maui. Hilton visited the island despite state officials telling tourists to not come due to the ongoing destruction caused by wildfires.

Hilton, 42, was photographed with her husband Carter Reum and their baby boy Phoenix at a beach resort in Wailea, just 30 miles from Lahaina, which was devastated by the disaster.

Hilton arrived in Maui on August 8, the time when the wildfires were ravaging Lahaina. The next day, the Hawaii Tourism Authority (HTA) requested that tourists leave the island for “rescue and recovery efforts” to proceed.

It remains unknown whether Hilton left Maui and when the holiday photographs were taken.

On her Instagram Stories, Hilton shared two posts from the Hawaii Community Foundation’s fund for Maui locals, including “shelter, food, financial assistance and other needs as they arise.”

The photos of Hilton on holiday have received significant backlash online. Social media users criticized her decision to visit the island during the wildfires.

The death toll has risen to 93 with hundreds of people missing. Tens of thousands of people have been evacuated from Maui by air. The disaster was exacerbated by winds from Hurricane Dora, Hawaii’s severe drought conditions and challenges with water management.

Celebrities like Jason Momoa, who is Hawaiian, have encouraged more resources to be sent to Maui. The actor recently warned vacationers to not travel to Maui in a social media post, saying, “Maui is not the place to have your vacation right now. DO NOT TRAVEL TO MAUI… Mahalo to everyone who has donated and shown aloha to the community in this time of need.”
