The Nurse Jackie season five finale, airing Sunday, June 16, will show Jackie (Edie Falco) hit some major milestones and take some unfortunate hits.

One milestone is Jackie’s one-year anniversary of sobriety from her drug addiction. It’s an impressive feat, especially given the bitter divorce she’s dealing with. There are other good things in her personal life that are keeping her going as well, like her romance with police officer Frank Verelli (Adam Ferrara).

Speaking of, the other major milestone is hearing the “L” word from Verelli. That’s right – while lying in bed, he tells Jackie, “I love you. You knew that, right?” The preview shows the two struggling with their advancing relationship.

Unfortunately, it’s been speculated that Verelli, daughter Grace (Ruby Jerins), and friend Eddie (Paul Schulze) might not make it to the sobriety celebration.

Additionally, one episode after making the decision to give up custody of her kids – Grace and Fiona (Mackenzie Aladjem) – Jackie finds out that Grace recently took Adderall after a drug test found trace amounts of it in her system. She worries that her daughter might be following in her previous addict ways – a definite damper on Jackie’s one-year milestone.

Nurse Jackie was renewed for a sixth season. The season will begin filming this fall, and premiere in 2014.
