‘Ferrari’ Star Adam Driver Says ‘F— You’ To Fan Who Asked About The Film’s ‘Cheesy’ Crash Scenes

The new film Ferrari, starring and executive produced by Adam Driver, was screened on November 12 during Poland’s 2023 Camerimage International Film Festival.

After the screening, a Q&A took place during which one of the attendees asked the star about the film’s crash scenes.

“What do you think about [the] crash scenes?” one of the attendees asked Driver. “They looked pretty harsh, drastic and, I must say, cheesy for me. What do you think?”

“F— you, I don’t know. Next question,” the actor replied.

This reply was recorded on video and posted on X.

Other audience members reacted to his response with gasps and what sounded like uncomfortable laughter.

Marek Żydowicz, the director and founder of the festival, issued a statement on the incident.

“As is the case with any film festival featuring open conversations with invited artists, [there are] both sensible and completely trivial questions and comments,” he stated. “In my opinion, the question raised during the Q&A with Adam Driver belonged to the second category. It was an assessment, lacking deeper reasoning, which is against the spirit of our festival and the work we are aiming to achieve.”

Żydowicz praised the star of the biopic for agreeing to attend the festival despite his arduous schedule. He even noted that the actor requested that the Q&A be shown to the public and to have in-person conversations with the people who came to see this film.

“Having devoted the last 30 years of my life to careful analysis of film imagery, our goal is to celebrate, honor and recognize the art of moving pictures as well as the great artists and collaborators of films. We look forward to audiences seeing Michael Mann‘s [the film’s director] Ferrari, and the deeply authentic excellent work he and his film-making team, including Adam Driver, have accomplished.”

In the film, Driver portrays Enzo Ferrari, the founder of the luxury sports car company named after him. The setting and main focus of the story is the summer of 1957, the time when Ferrari’s company was facing bankruptcy and he had endured struggles in his personal and professional life.

The actor spent the last few months promoting this film, even during the SAG-AFTRA strike at the Venice Film Festival. This was due to the fact that the film signed an interim agreement with the guild, which allowed him to come to events and discuss his work.

Penelope Cruz, Shailene Woodley, Gabriel Leone, Sarah Gadon and Patrick Dempsey also star in the film, which is coming to theaters on December 25.
