Michael Phelps Rips Swim Cap Before Relay Race, Wins Gold
Michael Phelps, the most decorated Olympian ever, ripped his swim cap Wednesday night just before his turn as anchor for the American 4x200m freestyle relay team.
MICHAEL PHELPS RIPS SWIM CAP
Phelps was swimming last of his teammates Conor Dwyer, Townley Haas and Ryan Lochte, when he unexpectedly ripped his swim cap during Lochte’s portion of the race. Luckily, Dwyer, who had already raced, gave up his swim cap to Phelps, who was able to stretch it on without a hitch. The team already had a significant lead before Phelps jumped in, and went on to win gold, followed by Great Britain and Japan, for silver and bronze.
