Melanie Liburd To Play Red Priestess On ‘Game Of Thrones’
British actress Melanie Liburd has been cast in Game of Thrones as a Red Priestess.
Melanie Liburd Joins ‘GOT’
A week ago, Liburd, best known for appearances in The Grinder, Strike Back, Dracula and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, announced her casting in her “dream job” on Instagram.
“Flying back to London then on to Spain to film my dream job,” Liburd wrote. “Holy *%#@ dreams actually do come true! I’m so excited I feel like jumping up and down!! #HBO #britactressinla #actress #fightforyourdreams #dreamjob #keeponkeepingon #neverstop #peaceout.”
Liburd captioned a collage from Spain, “Day of exploring and befriending the locals in Peniscola Spain.”
This week it was confirmed that Liburd would be playing a Red Priestess by Deadline. Though the outlet suggested that Liburd could be taking over the part of Melisandre, played by Carice Van Houten, it has since been reported that Liburd will be playing an altogether different Red Priestess.
Based on a casting notice and a leaked audition, it seems as though Liburd has been tapped for the part of a Red Priestess named Kinvara, who travels to Mereen convinced that Daenerys is “The One Who Was Promised.”
