John Edward McJee Jr. is an American television personality, writer and psychic. He gained recognition through his show Crossing Over with John Edward, which explores his abilities as a self-proclaimed psychic medium. He is also a writer, best known for his book titled One Last Time: A Psychic Medium Speaks to Those We Have Loved and Lost, which went on to become a New York Times Bestseller.

JOHN EDWARD BIOGRAPHY: AGE, EARLY LIFE, FAMILY, EDUCATION

John Edward was born on October 19, 1969 (John Edward age: 55) in Glen Cove, New York. His father, Jack McGee, is Irish-American and worked as a police officer. His mother is Perinda McGee. He does not have any siblings.

Edward’s fascination with the psychic profession began at the age of 15, when he was read by a woman, and she convinced him of his own ability.

Edward told uInterview exclusively about how he became a psychic. “I have to tell you that I didn’t really discover it, I was told I had a reading where I was at my grandma’s house, and they used to have psychics come all the time,” he said. “I was debunking the woman that was doing readings there to try to prove to them my family, like she wasn’t legit, and during the course of my attempting to debunk her reading, she kind of blew my mind with what she knew about me and what she predicted for me. She told me that I had this ability, which wasn’t something that I took seriously until everything she said happened, so that was kind of like a mind blower. So at 15 to have someone kind of walk around your life and tell you things that you would have had to have said to yourself and then find out how those things were gonna unfold kind of blew my mind got me to pay attention to the last part so that was my journey I had a reading.”

Edward pursued a degree in health care administration at Long Island University while simultaneously working as a phlebotomist. He has also worked as a ballroom dance instructor.

JOHN EDWARD BIOGRAPHY: CAREER

Edward started out with his own show that he produced and hosted, titled Crossing Over with John Edward, which gained wide public appeal. His next show was titled John Edward Cross Country, where he gave readings to the public.

In an exclusive interview with uInterview, Edward revealed that his journey toward becoming a psychic was also rooted in skepticism at first.

“I have to tell you that I didn’t really discover it. I was told I had a reading where I was at my grandma’s house, and they used to have psychics come all the time, and I was debunking the woman who was doing readings there. [I was trying] to prove to my family that she wasn’t legit. But during the course of my attempt, she kind of blew my mind with what she knew about me and what she predicted for me. She told me that I had this ability, which wasn’t something that I took seriously until everything she said happened,” Edward said, smiling.

“So that was kind of like a mind blower, at 15, to have someone kind of walk around your life and tell you things that you would have had to have told to yourself and then find out how those things were gonna unfold. It kind of got me to pay attention to the last part. So, that was my journey – I had a reading.”

Edward also revealed the power of love in the afterlife as well as his journey towards becoming a psychic.

“One thing that stands out to me is the power of love. It sounds cliche, but when you’re doing a reading for someone, there’s this insistence level of energy that comes through in a repetitive way to get a message across to someone who doesn’t realize the connection that’s there. That is cool to watch. The most important thing is that the power of love and connection – it’s real.”

When asked about what the afterlife is like, Edward remarked that he had been asked by publishers to write a book about “the guided afterlife tour,” which he admits to uInterview is not something he can do.

“It’s a book that I cannot write, and the reason is, I feel like I have the privilege of being able to do this; to connect and get glimpses of what’s coming through. But it’s a perspective that’s interpretive. I would never want to say that this is what the afterlife is like based on what I’m doing. I’ve been to Australia a couple of times – I can tell you the capital cities I’ve been to and what I’ve eaten, but I can’t write the tour book to Australia even after being there.”

When asked about what he says to skeptics, Edward stated that “skepticism is a very important tool to help you discern what’s real and what’s not,” but also mentioned that it cannot be equated to cynicism.

“It’s important to be skeptical. I think it’s important for everybody to be skeptical when it comes to this subject matter and as they approach things in their lives.”
