A man who attempted to rush a panel on stage featuring Drew Barrymore earlier this week has been arrested.

Chad Michael Busto, 43, has been charged with fourth-degree stalking and a class “B” misdemeanor by the Southampton, New York, Town Police. He was arrested on Thursday right before midnight.

This arrest was after reports that a man was detained riding a bicycle on private roads in Sagaponack, a town in Southampton. He was asking residents where Barrymore’s address was. Busto was then questioned by officers and was released. The authorities said he appeared to have left the area.

A follow-up investigation by detectives concluded that there was enough evidence for a charge of stalking. With a wanted flyer shared with bordering agencies, Busto was located in the nearby town of East Hampton by police. He was taken into custody and later turned over to the police department in Southampton.

Busto is expected to appear in court this morning.

Before the arrest, Barrymore was interviewed at the 92nd Street Y when Busto rushed the stage. A video of the incident showed that Barrymore thought she was responding to an audience member until Busto tried to make his way to the middle of the stage. During his attempt, Busto claimed that Barrymore knew who he was. Security blocked the man and took him away from the venue. Renée Rapp, a singer who was Barrymore’s interviewer, grabbed Barrymore and took her offstage.

After Busto was kicked out by security, Barrymore and Rapp later got an all-clear to return to the show. The two were treated to a round of cheers when they came back out to finish the interview.

This isn’t the first time Busto has been caught harassing celebrities, as he allegedly stalked actress Amber Heard. Busto also has criminal arrests in California, Georgia, and Texas.

Barrymore has yet to comment on the incident.
