Sarah Hyland found herself in an awkward position during a recent double elimination on a recent episode of Love Island.

Hyland, host of the reality competition series, was challenged by contestant Mike Starks when another contestant Vickala “Kay Kay” Gray proclaimed that she wanted to dump herself, thus being eliminated from the competition.

Gray chose to leave after her boyfriend Keenan Anunay was voted off by the other contestants.

“I would like to voluntarily also leave,” Gray explained. “I feel like I found what I came here for, and I’d like to leave with Keenan.”

Gray started dating Anunay at the beginning of the season because of his good energy. After announcing her decision, Hyland asked Gray if she was sure about making that decision.

“Before you go anywhere, I just want to make sure that you’re absolutely happy with your decision,” Hyland explained, and Gray reassured Hyland with “no regrets.”

However, Starks didn’t react well to Hyland’s statement.

“Why are you saying it like that?” Starks asked Hyland. “It sounded mad disrespectful.”

Hyland was surprised by Starks’ response. “I’m being disrespectful?” Hyland asked. “Ok, then.”

Another contestant, Leonardo Dionicio, who was in the middle of Hyland and Starks, tried to defuse the situation by excusing Starks’ reaction. “Sarah, I apologize for his reaction. I think it’s just the heat of the moment,” Dionicio mumbled into Hyland’s ear.

Hyland accepted Dionicio’s apology – and humorously at that.

“Thank you,” Hyland said to Dioncio. “Boys will be boys, right?”
