Lindsay Lohan Hospitalized Due To Rare Chikungunya Virus
Lindsay Lohan was briefly hospitalized in London this week after the actress suffered a fever stemming from the rare Chikungunya virus.
Lindsay Lohan Hospitalized
Lohan contracted the Chikungunya virus from mosquitoes during a recent vacation in Bora Bora, and told fans of her condition around the New Year. Lohan seemed determined to enjoy her vacation despite her illness, posting a vacation photo on her Instagram page with the caption, “In good faith with good people. I refuse to let a virus effect my peaceful vacation.”
According to reports, when Lohan returned to London, where she is currently starring in a production of Speed-the-Plow, she became incredibly ill and was taken to King Edward VII’s Hospital. Lohan reportedly presented with a high fever and joint pain – both known symptoms of Chikungunya.
It’s unclear how long Lohan was in the hospital, but sources say that Lohan’s fever broke on Wednesday, and the actress was released. Though her symptoms appear to have subsided, doctors say Lohan could be experiencing flare ups due to the virus throughout the coming year. “The doctors told her it could take six months to a year for the virus to clear up. She has good days and bad. Right now, she’s not doing so well,” a source told E! News.
Lohan has not addressed her hospitalization, but she did tweet about her charity work with CSV Positive Futures on Wednesday, signifying the actress is on the mend.
