Lil Wayne Says He’s A “Prisoner” At Cash Money Records
Lil Wayne announced on Thursday that he desperately wants out of his contract with Cash Money Records and Birdman (aka Baby, aka Bryan Williams) in a series of angry tweets.
Lil Wayne Twitter Rant Against Cash Money
Lil Wayne has been recording with Cash Money Records his entire career, but revealed that he now feels like a “prisoner” at the label. In his short Twitter rant, the rapper also claimed that the label was preventing the release of his newest album, Tha Carter V, which was originally scheduled to be released on Dec. 9.
“To all my fans, I want u to know that my album won’t and hasn’t been released bekuz Baby & Cash Money Rec. refuse to release it,” Lil Wayne tweeted on Dec. 4.

Lil Wayne went on, apologizing for the situation, though not offering any details on what might have caused his sudden public strife with the label.

Lil Wayne alluded to creative differences, writing, “I am a prisoner and so is my creativity. Again, I am truly sorry and I don’t blame ya if ya fed up with waiting 4 me & this album.”

Fellow rappers, and Cash Money artists, Nicki Minaj and Drake, have not commented on Lil Wayne’s statements, but former Cash Money artist, Tyga, tweeted his support of Lil Wayne.
