Lil Wayne Hints At Retirement, Kendrick Lamar Urges Wayne Not To Quit

Lil Wayne posted a cryptic tweet last week in which he hinted at retiring from rap music, sparking pleas from fans and multiple rappers — including Kendrick Lamar.

“I AM NOW DEFENSELESS AND mentally DEFEATED & I leave gracefully and thankful I luh my fanz but I’m dun,” Wayne wrote. “Ain’t lookin for sympathy, just serenity.”

Back in December 2014, Wayne announced that he wanted to leave Cash Money Records — the label that made him famous.

“To all my fans, I want you to know that my album won’t and hasn’t been released because Baby and Cash Money Rec. refuse to release it,” the rapper said at the time. “I want off thisand nothing to do with these people but unfortunately it ain’t that easy.”

Wayne later sued Cash Money Records andowner Birdman for over $50 million; though the lawsuit has reportedly not been resolved.

Fans have speculated that the ongoing battle between Wayne and his former recording label has finally pushed him to the limit.

Hip hop artists such as Rick Ross and Mack Maine were among the first to urge Wayne not to quit — Ross offered to buy out Wayne’s contract from Birdman and Maine claimed that Wayne loves his fans too much to quit.

Lamar jumped in on Friday night, posting a video of himself online as he ended a recording session.

In the video, Lamar stated that he had a public service announcement to make, then proceeded to spit out a few popular Wayne lyrics and lash out against the idea of Wayne quitting.

“N—ga talking about retirement and sh—t, n—ga, f—ck that, n—ga!” he yelled into the camera. “Retire, quitting rap, whatever you want to call that, n—ga. F—ck that, n—ga.”
