Right-Wing Site ‘The Gateway Pundit’ Declares Bankruptcy After Facing Many Lawsuits For False Claims About 2020 Election

Jim Hoft, the founder of the right-wing media site The Gateway Pundit, announced that this company filed for bankruptcy after it faced many lawsuits about false claims it made about the 2020 election.

The Gateway Pundit has been facing litigation by election workers and other people who endured harassment after the site made inaccurate claims that the 2020 presidential election was stolen.

Some of these lawsuits were made by people who claim to have received numerous threats after being vilified in fake stories.

One lawsuit is being brought by mother-and-daughter Georgia election workers Ruby Freeman and Wandrea “Shaye” Moss. Last year, the pair won a $148 million defamation verdict against the former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani.

According to the company, the litigation forced it to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in Florida.

Their petition estimated it had assets between $500,000 and $1 million.

“TGP Communications, the parent company of The Gateway Pundit, recently decided to seek protection under Chapter 11 of the United States Bankruptcy Code in the Southern District of Florida as a result of the progressive liberal lawfare attacks against our media outlet,” Hoft declared in a message to his site’s readers.

“This is not an admission of fault or culpability,” the Gateway Pundit founder asserted. “This is a common tool for reorganization and to consolidate litigation when attacks are coming from all sides. It allows TGP to consolidate this lawfare in one court for ultimate resolution.”

“Despite the radical left’s efforts to silence The Gateway Pundit through censorship, de-platforming, de-banking, cut-off from advertisers, and other financial strategies, we will not be deterred from our mission of remaining fearless and being one of the most trusted independent media outlets in America today,” he then stated. “We do not expect that to change.”

Gateway Pundit is a favorite resource for former President Donald Trump.

On January 8, Trump promoted a false birther conspiracy about Nikki Haley, questioning if she is an American citizen who is allowed to be president. The former president went to Truth Social to post a screenshot of a post from The Gateway Pundit discussing the citizenship status of both Haley and her father, Ajit Randhawa, and her mother, Raj Randhawa

Despite the report, experts pointed out that the 14th Amendment states that individuals born or naturalized in the U.S. are citizens.
