Lena Dunham Looks Unrecognizable With New Look At Serpentine Gallery Summer Party In London

Lena Dunham attended the Serpentine Gallery Summer Party in London last night – and shocked fans with her unrecognizable appearance and new look.

She wore a black satin floor-length gown with an equally long gold satin sash draped around her neck. As an accessory, she carried a handbag with a cookie printed on the front and wore gold heels to match her outfit. 

She arrived at the event with fashion designer Carly Mark.

Earlier this year, the Catherine Called Birdy director celebrated five years of sobriety. In April, she posted a celebratory post and wrote, “The last 5 years have been the happiest of my time earth so far (at least this time around)!”

“They’ve been full of work, love, complexity and yes — pain,” she continued. “But facing all of that without medicating myself in unhealthy ways has given me a sturdy baseline and new tools.”

Dunham had previously struggled with prescription drug addiction, as she was recovering from a hysterectomy she had undergone in 2017 as a result of her endometriosis diagnosis.

The Serpentine Gallery Summer Party is an annual event held in London to raise funds to support the gallery’s programs and exhibitions. 

Other attendees include former New York City mayor Michael R. Bloomberg, Anna Wintour, Minnie Driver, Ellie Goulding, Orlando Bloom and Diane Kruger.
