While members of the Kardashian family usually opt for campy Halloween costumes, this year Kendall Jenner went for a more toned-down Marilyn Monroe costume.

On October 29, Kendall posted photos on Instagram of herself in a blonde wig and black turtleneck. She captioned the post, “Happy birthday mister president,” a reference to Monroe’s iconic 1962 performance at Madison Square Garden to honor President John F. Kennedy’s 45th birthday.

Kendall’s photos recreated the 1953 Life magazine portraits taken of Monroe by Alfred Eisenstaedt.

Kim Kardashian stirred controversy when she wore Marilyn Monroe’s original 1962 naked dress to the 2022 Met Gala – the same dress Monroe had worn to serenade Kennedy.

Kim told Vogue at the event, “The dress was transported by guards and I had to wear gloves to try it on… I always thought she was extremely curvy. I imagined I might be smaller in some places where she was bigger and bigger in places where she was smaller. So, when it didn’t fit me, I wanted to cry because it can’t be altered at all.”

Kim revealed that she dropped 16 pounds in three weeks to make the dress fit.

“It was such a challenge,” she said. “It was like a role. I was determined to fit.”

Last month, Kylie Jenner also took a page from the Hollywood legend’s book for Paris Fashion Week and channeled Monroe’s energy through an updated version of the naked dress, covered in diamond beading with a plunging neckline and a keyhole-shaped cutout.

A day before Kendall posted her photos, Kourtney Kardashian, currently pregnant with her and Travis Barker’s first child, shared photos of herself in Kim’s 2013 Met Gala rose-patterned Givenchy maternity look. Kim reposted the photo of her Instagram story with handclapping emojis.
