Justin Timberlake Releases “Filthy,” First Single Off Forthcoming Album “Man Of The Woods”
Justin Timberlake has been teasing a new release all week, and the time finally came.
JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE DEBUTS “FILTHY” MUSIC VIDEO
The singer debuted a new song and music video, the first off his latest album Man of the Woods – “Filthy.” The futuristic video matched the audio to a T, with Timberlake posing as a Steve-Jobs-type head of a tech company and introducing the latest robotics products. He even wore a black turtleneck (with some white stripes to change it up) and large glasses. The title card at the start states, “Pan-Asian Deep Learning Conference, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 2028.’
Both the music and the video displayed a clear Michael Jackson influence, with a driving beat and funky layering behind. “Baby don’t you mind if I do / Exactly what you like, times two / Got me singing oo-oh, so baby don’t you mind if I do / Put your filthy hands all over me / no this ain’t the clean version / What you gonna do with all that beast / when I leave the cage open?” Timberlake sings.
By the end, the robot showed TImberlake’s face, and it showed off some dance moves while surrounded by bikini-clad women. The performers even mime some fairly lewd acts. The last moment shows the real Timberlake evaporate into nothing, like a computer program being deleted. The video was created by famed director Mark Romanek.
Man of the Woods is slated to debut on Feb. 2. For now, Timberlake has left us with a song list for the whole album. The first song, however, doesn’t seem to fit with the theme, after the singer released a teaser earlier this week showing clips of the great outdoors and explaining that this album would be “personal.” The futuristic feel of “Filthy” doens’t quite add up, but we’ll have to wait almost a month to hear what else is in store.
