On October 21, Louis-Dreyfus will be honored with her Mark Twain award, which only the world’s most acclaimed humorists receive, at the Kennedy Center. In addition to this award, Louis-Dreyfus won her sixth consecutive Emmy award for her performance as Selina Meyer on Veep.
Louis-Dreyfus has a celebrated history in comedy. She joined the cast of Saturday Night Live when she was 21, meeting Larry David on her final year. Afterwards, she starred in films — the most notable likely being 1989’s National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, where she worked with fellow SNL alumni Chevy Chase — before appearing as Elaine Benes on the iconic sitcom Seinfeld, which ran from 1990 to 1998.
