Joey Feek Plays With Daughter In Hospice After Grammy Nomination
Grammy Award nominee Joey Feek is out of bed and bonding with her daughter, according to a photo taken by her husband.
Feek was diagnosed with cervical cancer in June of 2014, and got hospice care in Nov. 2015. Her husband, Rory Feek, had told the press on Nov. 29 that she couldn’t get out of bed anymore.
But in the photo posted Dec. 11, Joey smiles as she plays with her 22 month old daughter, Indiana, who was diagnosed with Down Syndrome not long before Joey’s diagnosis.
It’s 60 and sunny outside today and even brighter inside.. Joey’s out of bed teaching signs to Indy on the floor.

It’s a sweet photo for a woman who’s been through a lot in the past year.
Last week, Joey’s spirits were lifted when the family celebrated Christmas early. On Rory’s blog, “This Life I Live,” he talks about the help the community has given them and how the family has grown together. “We have a Christmas tree and some decorations up and thanks to the nice folks at Pizza King, it’s starting to feel like Christmas. And not just any Christmas-a very special Christmas-one that we’ll never forget.”
And on Monday, Dec. 7, the couple were stunned to find out that they had been nominated for the best country duo/group performance Grammy.
“[I] woke up this morning with a baby in my arms and the news that our version of ‘If I Needed You’ was nominated for a Grammy,” Rory wrote in a Facebook post. “God is so good. Thank you, thank you, thank you.”
