Jodi Arias entered the 18th day of her testimony yesterday and offered a retelling of the events that led to boyfriend Travis Alexander’s death that the prosecution called “impossible.”

Arias, who faces the death penalty if convicted of Alexander’s murder, claims she killed him in self-defense. Previous testimony issued by Arias alleged that Alexander became enraged when she dropped his camera while taking photos of him in the shower. Arais said that he then attacked her, which led her to retrieve his gun and shoot him in order to protect her own life.

“Your scenario is impossible,” prosecutor Juan Martinez said.

“You drop the camera… you are body-slammed, you get away, you go down the hallway, you go in the closet, you get the gun, you go into the bathroom… You shoot him, he goes down and then, after you’re able to get away, you go get the knife and you end up at the end of the hallway — all of this in 62 seconds?” Martinez asked.

“No, that’s not what I’m saying… after the gun went off… it started to get more confusing at that point,” Arias replied.

“You didn’t have the knife in your hand when you shot him. So that means, if you didn’t have the knife in your hand, you had to go get it from somewhere, right?” Martinez asked.

“I don’t know,” Arias replied.

Martinez continued to press Arias on the logistics pertaining to her retrieval of both the gun and the knife. He also wanted to know what caused her to stab Alexander nearly 30 times, rather than choose to shoot him, if she still felt threatened. Arias held firm in her position that she didn’t know the answer to that either. Despite the intense questioning, Arias didn’t end up in tears as she did on Feb. 28, when pictures of the slain Alexander were put before her.
