Jim Carrey Being Sued For The Wrongful Death Of His Ex Again, This Time By Cathriona White’s Mother

Actor Jim Carrey is being sued again for the wrongful death of his ex-girlfriend, Cathriona White, who committed suicide last September. This time, it is White’s mother Brigid Sweetman who is leading the charge.

JIM CARREY SUED FOR WRONGFUL DEATH

White took a lethal dose of prescription dugs, namely Ambien, propranolol, and oxycodone, and lost her life on Sept. 28, 2015. At the time, she was married to estranged husband Mark Burton, but was in a relationship with Carrey.

Burton has already filed a wrongful death suit against Carrey. Both Burton and Sweetman claim that Carrey illegally obtained the prescription drugs that White used to take her own life. “After obtaining these drugs illegally and under a bogus name, Mr. Carrey proceeded to provide the prescription drugs,” Burton’s suit states, and claims that Carrey knew White was “prone to depression and had previously attempted to take her own life.”

Sweetman’s suit makes the same claims, and goes on to report that Carrey gave her daughter three sexually transmitted diseases. Carrey allegedly gave White both herpes type 1 and type 2, as well as gonorrhea in 2013. When White was diagnosed, Carrey sent a few texts, seemingly trying to show his innocence in the matter. “Agrivated folacles (sic) or bumps are normal when you shave or have vigorous sex,” one text allegedly read. “I hope your (sic) ok hun,” said the next. “It could be from someone before me. Doesn’t show up until you’re really stressed.”

“Jim Carrey should be ashamed of what he did to my daughter,” Sweetman said in a statement. “And he should be ashamed for how he used his Hollywood attorneys to badmouth Cat’s husband Mark with the hope that nobody will hold him responsible for what he did.”

White left a suicide note that details how Carrey called her “a whore” and “an opportunist.” The Irish make-up artist described how she couldn’t deal with the ending of their relationship in her note.

Carrey chastised Burton for his initial lawsuit, and now released a statement in response to Sweetman’s suit. It reads:

“What a terrible shame. It would be easy for me to get in a back room with this man’s lawyer and make this go away, but there are some moments in life when you have to stand up and defend your honour against the evil in this world. I will not tolerate this heartless attempt to exploit me or the woman I loved. Cat’s troubles were born long before I met her and sadly her tragic end was beyond anyone’s control. I really hope that some day soon people will stop trying to profit from this and let her rest in peace.”
