Jessa Duggar, the 19 Kids and Counting star, is pregnant with her first child with husband Ben Seewald.
Jessa confirmed the baby news on Tuesday. “We’re expecting!” Jessa, 22, told People magazine. “We are so excited. The due date is November first, our wedding anniversary.”
“We are looking forward to being parents,” Seewald added.
Jessa found out that she was pregnant one Sunday morning when she decided to take a pregnancy test. Before heading off to church, she told Ben, 19, that they were expecting.
“I said, ‘Hey Ben, guess what? Yeah, you’re a dad.’ We couldn’t believe it,” Jessa said. “We are so excited. We have started talking baby names. It is one of those things that is so special, picking a name for a baby.”
Jessa, who is now entering her second trimester, admits that she had been experiencing some morning sickness, but that she feels good overall.
“I am feeling pretty good,” Jessa said “The morning sickness was different every day. It’s getting better, but I’m still hanging on to the heartburn. And I don’t have any super-serious food cravings.”
In the past, Jessa and Ben have expressed their desire to adopt children, as well as having biological children. The married pair still hopes to adopt a child as soon as it becomes possible for them, which will be after two years of marriage.
“Our hearts haven’t changed on adoption. We are still making plans,” Jessa said. Ben added, “We are trying to take it one day at a time. We pray every night that God helps us be good parents. We are getting advice from other parents.”
Jessa and Ben wed Nov. 1, 2014 after a short engagement that followed months of courting.
